Fence repairs

A storm, a rotten post or a section leaning on sloping ground usually doesn't mean the whole fence needs replacing, just the bit that's failed. Getting someone out to fix only what's broken, without being sold a full rebuild, is what most people are after.

Post and wire and rural fencing

What the job involves

Leaning sections, rotten posts, loose palings and storm damage.

What's included

  • On-site inspection of the damaged section and posts
  • Written quote for the repair, separate from any full-fence work
  • Replacement of broken, leaning or rotten posts
  • Replacement of loose or damaged palings, rails or sheets
  • Re-hanging or adjusting gates affected by the same damage
  • Removal of broken material and offcuts

What happens on a fence repair job

  1. Step 1:

Walk the line: looking at the damaged section, the posts and the ground around it

  2. Step 2:

Quote by the metre or by the job: a written quote covering just the repair work needed

  3. Step 3:

Dial before you dig if new post holes are required

  4. Step 4:

Posts first: broken or rotten posts replaced and left to cure before rails, palings or sheets go back on

  5. Step 5:

Finish and tidy: repaired section matched in where possible, rubbish and offcuts taken away

Questions we often get

Do you sort out the neighbour's share of a dividing fence?

We'll give you a quote that shows each side's share, which makes the conversation easier. The agreement itself is between you and your neighbour.

How long does a new fence take?

A typical suburban boundary is usually up in a couple of days, plus time for the post concrete to set. Rural runs depend on the length and the ground.

Can you fence a steep or rocky block?

Yes, that's a lot of what we do around here. We'll step or rake the fence to suit the slope and tell you upfront if the ground looks like it needs extra work.

Do you take the old fence away?

Yes, removal and disposal can be included in the quote. It's listed as its own line so you can see what it costs.

Colorbond or timber?

Colorbond needs little upkeep and comes in a range of colours; timber is warmer to look at and easier to patch. We'll talk through both when we're on site.

Do you do farm fencing?

Yes. Post and rail, plain wire, ringlock and hinge joint, plus farm and driveway gates, on blocks out towards Lilydale, Coldstream and Wandin North.

How the job is priced

Quoted on site based on what's actually damaged, whether that's a couple of posts and palings after a storm or a longer leaning section. Priced per metre or per job depending on the repair.
