Two fencers building a timber paling fence on a sloping block

In their customers' words

“Double driveway gates on our sloping drive. They swing and latch properly now, which the old ones never did.”
Dan O. · Mount Evelyn · February 2026
“Our yard drops away at the back fence, so they put in a concrete sleeper wall with the new Colorbond on top. Sorted a problem we'd been putting off for ages.”

Frequently asked questions

Do you sort out the neighbour's share of a dividing fence?

We'll give you a quote that shows each side's share, which makes the conversation easier. The agreement itself is between you and your neighbour.

How long does a new fence take?

A typical suburban boundary is usually up in a couple of days, plus time for the post concrete to set. Rural runs depend on the length and the ground.

Can you fence a steep or rocky block?

Yes, that's a lot of what we do around here. We'll step or rake the fence to suit the slope and tell you upfront if the ground looks like it needs extra work.

Do you take the old fence away?

Yes, removal and disposal can be included in the quote. It's listed as its own line so you can see what it costs.

Colorbond or timber?

Colorbond needs little upkeep and comes in a range of colours; timber is warmer to look at and easier to patch. We'll talk through both when we're on site.

Do you do farm fencing?

Yes. Post and rail, plain wire, ringlock and hinge joint, plus farm and driveway gates, on blocks out towards Lilydale, Coldstream and Wandin North.

Two blokes, a post-hole digger, and the ground around Mooroolbark

I'm Brendan, and Strainer Post Fencing is me, Tama and a post-hole digger working out of Mooroolbark. We put up Colorbond and paling fences in the suburbs, and post and rail or wire on the bigger blocks out towards Lilydale and the Valley. Most of our ground is clay, rock or hills, so we take the time to get posts deep and lines straight. We'll walk the line with you, talk through the options and give you a price you can show your neighbour.
